“Jesus did many other things as well. If every one of them were written down, I suppose that even the whole world would not have room for the books that would be written.” (John 21:25)
I read these quotes recently:
“Life is like a book. Some chapters are sad, some are happy, and some are exciting. But if you never turn the page…you will never know what the next chapter holds.” www.dailyinspirationalquotes.in/2016/04
“You can’t start the next chapter of your life if you keep re-reading the last one.”
When it comes to integrity, some people never turn the page because they live in fear that the next chapter may reveal the heavy costs of integrity. Others are stuck in the last chapter because they have grown accustomed to corruption, and if honest with themselves, are enjoying some of the side benefits that seem to come their way through corrupted practices.
Our CLI Cohort met here in Pretoria last night. One of our participants is a lawyer, and he taught on the Pillar of Truth. He shared how standing for truth can create another set of problems that include bribes, threats, and temptations. However, because he has chosen to live a lifestyle of integrity, many who are dealing with difficult cases come to him for advice because of his reputation for standing for truth.
As a group last night, we discussed what it is going to take to stand up to corruption. It was agreed that change comes from within each mountain of influence. It will take people who are willing to turn the page and write new chapters on the power of integrity.
In God, we find the rest, hope, and refuge we need to write the rest of the story.
“Find rest, O my soul, in God alone; my hope comes from him. He alone is my rock and my salvation; he is my fortress, I will not be shaken. My salvation and my honor depend on God; he is my mighty rock, my refuge. Trust in him at all times, O people; pour out your hearts to him, for God is our refuge. SELAH.
I love that word SELAH in the Psalms. It means interjection, pause, or rest. As our book of life is written, there are times we need to press the pause button, take a rest and let God interject encouragement into our lives. Words like rest, hope, fortress, refuge, and trust give us confidence in God’s ability to write the next chapter of our lives.
There is still room in the world for more books to be written. Will you join me today in writing the rest of the integrity story?
Until next time…
